Description
The LEAP project is designed to build local government capacity through the acquisition of new information and the development of new and varied skills for ALL of CUSP’s member cities. Collaborative learning offering two in-person workshops, a series of soft and technical skills training modules, and one_x0002_on-one coaching will be offered throughout the five phases of this projects (one-on-one coaching available for a low negotiated rate for non-core cities). The LEAP project includes five key phases:1. Ready: Establish each city’s foundation for equitable clean energy program design.2. Design: Gather data and conduct modelling to understand each city’s baseline and GHG emissions reduction potential.3. Construct: Structure each city’s clean energy program.4. Resource: Begin pilot version of clean energy program in participating cities.5. Report: Evaluate results of pilot programs and share results across CUSP cities. Adjust and begin to scale programs based on results.Project Outcomes:By increasing renewable energy deployment in cities, the LEAP program will achieve measurable GHG reductions for communities alongside a range of impactful co-benefits that will scale over the short, medium, and long-term. These include reductions to energy poverty and improved and equitable access to clean energy technologies for households. In the short-term, this project will support the design and implementation of six equitable and scalable clean energy pilot programs in CUSP cities.
