Description
This study will determine the feasibility and costs for a range of environmentally friendly technologies in the design,construction and operation of its new "Town Centre" administration building. Their goal is to reduce greenhouse gasemissions and non-renewable energy use by 35 to 50 per cent as compared to the Model National Energy Code forBuildings (MNECB). The most significant technology to be evaluated is geothermal heating and cooling. With the watertable under the entire town site at about two metres below the surface, this technology is ideally suited to Canmore.
