Description
The Municipal District of Bighorn and Lafarge Canada Inc. are studying the technical and financial feasibility of divertingtreated wastewater from the Hamlet of Exshaw's sanitary sewage treatment facility to the nearby Lafarge cement plant.If the project were feasible, it would eliminate the discharge of treated wastewater to the local watershed. Instead, thewastewater would replace water lost in the cement manufacturing process. Currently, Lafarge draws that water from theBow River. The study will provide a general engineering design of the pumps; pipelines and holding tanks needed tomove the wastewater to the cement plant, and would estimate capital and operating costs.
