Description
The Town of Cochrane will undertake the completion of Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) Milestones 1 to 3, at both the corporate and community levels. This PCP Milestone process will focus on energy conservation measures. It will investigate replacing conventional energy forms (i.e. fossil fuels) with alternative renewable energy approaches, such as, green building technologies for both new building construction and retrofits and the selection of energy efficient equipment and appliances. It will examine also local and regional air quality. Completion of Milestones 1 and 2 plans will result in a Local Action Plan (Milestone 3). This can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in municipal operations by a minimum of 20 per cent and in the community by a minimum of six per cent, below the determined baseline year within 10 years.
