Description

The District of Kitimat spends $190,000 annually for natural gas to operate its pool facility. Kitimat is planning a poolexpansion and wants to identify energy alternatives to minimize increased energy costs. The study will evaluate whethera geothermal technology (a ground source heat pump technology) is a viable alternative to conventional systems. If itproves viable, the district will consider its implementation. The study is part of the district's long-term plan to achievegreater energy efficiency and save on energy costs. The pool retrofit is planned for mid-2003 and should be completed inearly 2004.
