Description
The grant recipient will be required to implement initiatives that will have a long-term impact on corporate GHG emission reduction measures. The first mandatory phase consists in developing and implementing a climate change mitigation plan (a carbon budget implementation strategy) and conducting a pilot project for Maine (buildings) and for organic matter collection.The second mandatory phase consists in implementing operational and institutional changes that will generate long-term GHG emission reductions once the grant period ends.The third phase consists in completing the groundwork to implement the climate change mitigation projects; the grant recipient will be required to put the planned measures into action during the grant period.Over the two years, the Recipient plans to:Conduct research and prepare a benchmarking report on the carbon budgetDevelop a strategy to implement the carbon budgetGet the strategy adopted by the executive committeeComplete a pilot project for Maine (buildings) and for organic matter collection.Draft a progress report on the pilot project and present it to the executive committeeDocument the budget components of municipal buildings and operations that could achieve a reduction in GHG emissionsIdentify and document proposals for institutional and operational transformations to be incorporated into the borough’s management processesObtain approval of proposals for institutional and operational transformations by the executive committeePrepare the implementation of the project in six municipal buildings and three municipal activities
