Description

In order to accommodate rapid growth in a sustainable fashion, the Town of Milton will conduct a feasibility study on the introduction and integration of sustainable infrastructure, services, land–use planning, transportation and urban design. It will investigate and identify the planning strategies and framework to support the Eco–Tech Village (ETV) concept. The concept combines two innovative models in community design: the ecovillage, made up of ecologically sustainable or low impact, high–performance "green" buildings, and the televillage, or smart–wired, high technology, live–work communities. The outcome of the study will be a strategy to develop a sustainable Eco–Tech Village for Milton. Stakeholder and local expert consultations in sustainable planning, design and municipal systems will identify best practices for an ETV.
