Description

The Town of Saint-Quentin will develop a sustainable community plan that will be used as a management tool to advance environmental matters within the community. This will enable the Town to prioritize environmental issues, implement actions within a specified time period and meet its goal of developing in a more sustainable way. The plan will address: water conservation and water quality; air quality and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; energy consumption; waste management and diversion; and, sustainable transportation. It will be phased over a 10 month time frame and include: public consultation; establishing goals; defining and analyzing the current situation; determining future actions; updating the municipal plan and policies; and preparing a final report. The potential of implementing water metering will also be explored. The Town estimates that Implementation of the plan will: decrease the amount of potable water consumed; improve potable water quality; reduce the amount of water being treated; decrease energy consumed by municipal operations, residents and businesses; increase the use of sustainable transportation methods; decrease GHG emissions resulting from energy consumption and transportation; improve air quality; and, improve solid waste management.
