Description

This study will evaluate the use of magnetic coagulation to treat drinking water at Montreal's two water production plants.Currently, those plants use chemicals (aluminium, iron and polymer compounds) to remove particulates. Magneticcoagulation could save $2 million (previously spent on chemicals) per year and reduce the chemicals going toconsumers as well as the residues remaining in effluents after consumers use the water. The project would thus improvethe quality of the environment. If successful, this system could be used by other water treatment plants across thecountry.
