Description
A project is under way with Westport Innovations Inc. to conduct a field trial to test the efficiency and effectiveness of anelectrical generator set, which uses biogas (gases formed by biological means) from the wastewater treatment plant asfuel. The system will be installed at Grande Prairie's wastewater treatment plant. The water and wastewater treatmentplants will consume most of the electricity the generator produces; the balance will be sold to the provincial power grid.The equipment will also produce waste heat. This study will develop design parameters and a preliminary design for aconnection to a district heating system to utilize the waste heat from the generator set.
