Description
The Resort Village has committed to working on an initiative that will improve its asset management capacity. As part of the Canada-Saskatchewan Administrative Agreement and the Municipal Gas Tax Fund Agreement, municipalities are required to make progress towards developing and/or implementing an asset management plan. The municipality is very much in the early stages of its asset management journey and as such, the scope of this project includes retaining a consultant to conduct the assembly of relevant background information into an asset replacement forecast (.xls), develop a 20-year asset management plan (.doc) for all major asset categories, facilitate educational and team building workshops (three in total), and develop an implementation strategy. This project will involve municipal staff and discussing levels of service, risk and life cycle costs associated with providing various services – providing an environment for continued learning and capacity building. The Resort Village also intends to assess and incorporate the current condition of one asset class in the asset register, document the desired condition of assets, and identify the funding gap between the current and desired asset condition.
