Description

The purpose of this 12 month field test study is to determine the feasibility of co-composting biosolids, septage, paper sludges and residential source separated organics in the District Municipality of Muskoka. The study work plan consists of five phases: composting facility visits; approvals and construction; management of composting operations; public consultation and reporting. Throughout the study other Ontario composting facilities will be visited. The technologies will be reviewed and information on the operating experience of each facility will be collected. Information on the capital and operating costs, feedstocks, endmarkets and product quality will be examined. Subject to the success of this field test, the Municipality will use this information in determining the best technology for full-scale implementation. Public Consultation will occur twice throughout the study.
