Description
The City of Beaconsfield will be implementing its i3P project, which consists of completing the first three phases of the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program, developing a community energy plan, and implementing the city’s first climate change adaptation plan.The project aims to:- Develop a systemic and comprehensive approach- Identify model and innovative initiatives- Increase local and regional skills and knowledge- Partner with local experts to reduce GHG emissionsThe City of Beaconsfield will adopt the targets proposed by the PCP program:- For corporate emissions, the suggested target is ?20% from the base year, within 10 years- For community emissions, the suggested target is ?6% from the base year, within 10 yearsThe task force will use the PCP methodology and approach, which will be tailored to meet the needs of the City.The i3P project will be carried out in five phases:1- Organization of information and consultation sessions2- Preparation of inventories and preliminary action plans3- Preparation of the Community Energy Plan (CEP)4- Preparation of the adaptation plan and finalization of the action plans5- Presentation of the plans to the municipal councilThe city’s inventories and action plans (corporate and community) will be available on a public “GHG Action” website.With this project, the city will be able to optimize its resources as well as reduce energy costs and GHG emissions.The community component of the project will map the energy used and generated by the community in order to identify areas where conservation and efficiency measures could be implemented. The city will also be able to assess local power generation opportunities and the use of smart grids.In addition to the positive environmental impacts, this project will also bring economic benefits to the city and the community.
