Description

The City of Kingston owns 40 commercial and institutional buildings and 1,000 subsidized housing units, all of whichrequire energy efficiency audits and retrofits. Kingston wants to achieve an overall reduction of 35 per cent in energyconsumption and greenhouse gas emissions through conventional and non–conventional renovations. The energysavings would support green power purchases from a local wind farm and/or wind farm asset and pay down the cost ofthe energy retrofits. A business plan will be developed for conducting advanced energy retrofit feasibility studies and therenovation of existing municipal and residential building stock. These measures will double the energy and greenhousegas savings over standard energy auditing and renovation projects.
