Description

A full engineering study of city facilities will identify ways to reduce energy usage and improve infrastructure. The goal isto find ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from city buildings, including the recreation complex, public safety andpublic works buildings, the civic centre and fire hall, the Selkirk arena and memorial hall, sewage treatment and watertreatment plants. The study will evaluate lighting upgrades, automated heating system controls, water usage measures,solar wall technologies and mechanical system measures. Specific upgrade costs and energy savings will be estimatedfor each facility. The project and the type of partnerships developed to do the work will be useful in similar–sizedcommunities.
