Description
The City of Sherbrooke, in partnership with the Memphremagog RCM and Town of Magog, will establish a Water Management Master Plan for the Magog River watershed. The project involves creating a comprehensive picture of the water resource through sampling, research and analysis to determine the watershed’s condition and identify sources of pollution. Based on the plan, the city will develop a catalogue, a guide, and a presentation to be delivered at symposia and conferences — all awareness-raising measures that will contribute to a better understanding of the land. Once it is applied, the plan will help improve water quality, protect the resource, facilitate water access and consumption, and make the water available for swimming. The City of Sherbrooke expects the plan to provide numerous social and environmental benefits, such as reducing the levels of phosphorus, faecal coliforms and suspended solids in the water.
