Description

Mirror Lake Water Users Community (MLWUC) manages a water system, serving roughly 60 license
holders, including a raw water reservoir, dam at Bjerkness Creek, and several km of water mains. For this
project, MLWUC will develop an asset inventory (including condition assessment based on water loss audit
and field data collection). Assets to be assessed include 5.1 km water mains, valves, 60 services, dam,
reservoir, intake, hydrant, and 10 standpipes
The project will also include an Action Plan towards developing an Asset Management Strategy. MLWUC
intends to develop such a strategy following the current project, in collaboration with the Regional District
of Central Kootenay (RDCK). The strategy will clarify what level of investment is required to lift the boil water advisory, and the trade-offs and synergies among long-term needs.
