Description

The study seeks to provide an innovative solution to increased sewage flows from population growth and exceed currentprovincial and federal environment standards for pollutant removal without undue increase in capital construction, operating and maintenance costs and energy requirements. Options will be examined to replace the existing mechanicalaeration equipment with natural remediation technology to aid in water level control and to create a barrier tocontaminant plume migration. Source control management and effluent recycling will be considered in the design andrecommendation of a management system. Immediate technical needs will be considered along with systemsustainability and user compatibility. An additional consideration will be the option of working with Ducks Unlimited to incorporate duck breeding grounds into the lagoon design. This project has substantial potential for replication in smallcommunities in Saskatchewan.
