Description
This study will assess options for utilizing landfill gas to generate electricity. The study will evaluate project economicsand assess financing options. It will also select potential project development partners, and identify the necessarypermits, approvals and environmental benefits and opportunities to gain greenhouse gas emission credits. The optionsinclude:·providing energy to a Prince George recreation complex located near the landfill;·expanding organic composting services and providing energy to the regional district’s centralized composting operation,located near the landfill;·relocating Prince George’s municipal greenhouses to the landfill;·producing electricity (BC Hydro has a mandate to develop 10 per cent green power).
