Description

The District of North Vancouver is using an eco-industrial development approach to meet development goals. In thiscontext, the district will evaluate eco-industrial networking opportunities in its Maplewood community. Development willbe consistent with the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) strategies for demand–side management and aliveable region. The study will result in a sustainable community plan that integrates, rather than isolates, industrialactivity with residential and commercial areas. Eco-industrial opportunities and needs, including infrastructurerequirements will be identified. The study will include public consultation and a design workshop. Partners include theGVRD, the British Columbia Real Estate Foundation and local businesses. Financial support has also been receivedfrom Industry Canada and Natural Resources Canada.
