Description
The Town of Whitbourne plans to implement a three phase Asset Management initiative. Phase 1 includesthe development of an Asset Register for fixed infrastructure assets utilizing a geographical informationsystem (GIS) and associated database. The Asset Register will include the Town's water, wastewater andstorm water networks, as well as roads, trails, buildings, facilities and fleet. Phase 2 includes prioritizing theAsset Register in terms of consequence of failure and probability of failure to determine each assets risklevel. This will allow the Town to focus on highest risk assets first when planning capital projects. Phase 3includes the development of a Capital Plan and Asset Management Policy document and will end with aworkshop for both Council and staff. Throughout the project, multiple workshops will be held with Townstaff, providing an opportunity to learn the basics of Asset Management concepts as well as thedevelopment of an Asset Management Policy which will provide continuity and direction for the ongoingimplementation of Asset Management in the future.
