Description
The study will produce a greenhouse gas reduction strategy. The study areas include:- creating a comprehensive inventory of greenhouse gases produced in Whitehorse. Municipal buildings, the vehiclefleet including public transportation, solid waste management activity and community functions including housing, privatetransportation, business and other government operations will be examined.- establishing a greenhouse gas reduction target and timeline, with specific reduction goals by sector.- creating a database to capture all existing programs and projects that can contribute to greenhouse gas reductions.- producing a report that identifies projects and actions to achieve the greenhouse gas reduction target.- developing an action plan for greenhouse gas emissions reduction.The opportunities that are identified will be evaluated and ranked for implementation. Timelines and evaluation steps willbe included.
