Description
A feasibility study is the first step in the Black River–Matheson Waste Management Project, a proposal to reduce theamount of refuse in the area's five landfill sites. The study will determine the best method for implementing a wastereduction program that will include recycling and composting. The problems of each existing landfill site will also beexamined, and the life expectancy of each site will be estimated if the towns of Matheson, Ramore, Holtyre and ValGagne implement recycling practices. The study will investigate the costs and benefits of becoming a member of theCochrane Timiskaming District Recycling Association or other methods of implementing recycling, as well as suggestpossible locations for recycling depots.
