Description

The Rural Municipality of Ponass Lake No. 367 will input the age, condition, useful life, replacement, operating and maintenance costs of all asset classes within the municipality. The classes will consist of roads, culverts, machinery, vehicles and equipment, buildings and signs. Data collected on the all assets will include the date the asset was purchased, useful life, age, remaining life, replacement costs, residual value, condition, function and capacity. Sections of roads will be named and culverts and signs within the road will be recorded using GPS. Components of buildings will be conditioned in order to achieve the overall condition of the buildings. Equipment, machinery and vehicles will be conditioned and useful life will be determined by past performance. Operating and maintenance costs will be assessed on each property class. Future levels of service will be determined using the data collected. An Asset Management Plan will then be drafted along with an Asset Management Strategy and a Risk Management Plan. The Asset Management Plan will be used to set up a long-term Financial Plan for the municipality and will assist the present Council as well as future councils to make informed decisions regarding assets and levels of service required within the municipality.
