Description

Canadian Forest Products Ltd., a major lumber company operating in Grande Prairie, is pursuing a co–generationproject using wood waste to produce electricity and heat for local buildings and mill operations. The plant could produceas much as 40 megawatts of power. The sawmill operations will consume half this electricity. The company will sell theother half of the electricity on the open market, through the provincial grid. This feasibility study will examine thepossibility of developing a district heating system to use the balance of the heat the co–generation plant will generate. The study will include a preliminary engineering design.
