Description

The Village of Paquetville will conduct a detailed energy audit and prepare preliminary plans to improve the energy efficiency of two of its municipal buildings – the Town Hall and the Knowledge Centre. These two buildings are a priority for the Village because their heating and cooling systems perform poorly and energy consumption is high. The energy audit will include a detailed analysis of specific measures identified during the preliminary study, in addition to identifying efficiency opportunities and completing an implementation plan that includes capital costs, energy savings, payback periods and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions. Energy retrofits will be implemented on the two facilities that are part of the study. Energy-saving opportunities may include the replacement of lighting systems, building retrofits, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, energy management control systems and water conservation measures. The Village estimates that energy savings could range between 25 and 60 percent. It estimates further that by implementing the recommendations of the study, it could achieve total energy savings of between 25 and 60 percent and reduce GHG emissions by 40 to 70 tonnes per year.
