Description
The City of Spruce Grove wants to demonstrate environmental leadership in the community by incorporating as manyenergy efficient features as practicable in the Shenfield Civic Centre renovation, which could lead to a reduction ingreenhouse gases (GHG) of 118,000 kilograms (kg) annually. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design(LEED) Silver standard has been selected as the minimum benchmark to achieve. The feasibility study consists of thefollowing six activities: project initiation and LEED workshop; review of existing and proposed office space; identificationof LEED requirements; LEED implication and cost estimates; and preparation of a draft report and a final report. Basedon study results, the City will explore the possibility of introducing LEED Standards in all existing municipal building andestablishing a LEED Standard policy for new construction and existing building renovation.
