Description

The City of Chestermere will provide tailored asset management training to an interdisciplinary group of staff. Working with consultants, a course will first be created for Chestermere. This course will provide Asset Management (AM) training in a local context by referencing existing City policies and procedures. The course, thus, will be unique to the City. Members from the City's Roads, Fleet, Parks, Utilities, Facilities, Engineering and Finance Teams will receive training. The course will provide an introduction to AM.Topics likely to be taught include principles of the AM Life Cycle, Asset Related Risk, Asset Information, Financial and Business Impacts, as well as instruction on drafting an AM Plan. Once the initial training has been completed, materials will be created to facilitate sustained internal Asset Management training within the City. Training will increase competency in planning and decision making by providing the knowledge and practice necessary to create draft AM plans for some asset classes, with forecasted financial needs based on estimated data.
