Description

This study will examine options for the collection and treatment of sewage in an 80–kilometre area from the Town of Olds to the City of Red Deer. Currently, wastewater effluent flows into the Red Deer River through a series of rivers and creeks. Growing populations in each of the affected communities, which also include the Town of Innisfail, the County of Mountain View, the County of Red Deer and the Town of Bowden, are straining existing treatment methods. The study will examine options for a regional sewer system and will present cost alternatives and treatment methodologies. This study will be co-ordinated with a similar study in Edmonton so that the findings can be shared.
