Description
The Station Car Pilot Program will demonstrate the commercial and environmental viability of station car mobilitysystems in the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD). The study will measure the feasibility of implementing aself–sustaining new option for commuters working in transit-challenged areas. The program will be piloted by TransLink in the City of Burnaby and will affect both employees/employers andbusinesses. The program promotes removal of single occupant vehicles from the road during commuting hours byhaving commuters take alternative public transit and then drive a Station Car to/from work. The program will reducegreenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; decrease fuel use; reduce traffic congestion, etc. The feasibility study will also collectdata and create a model for application in other areas of the country.
