Description
Using a systems approach, LA Transit will pilot a new “beltline” system that will introduce service running perpendicularto a smaller number of loops, reducing trip length and making transit trips more direct, in contrast to the present systemwhich requires passengers to go into the central station in order to travel to another point on the wheel. Customersurveys, public open houses, data collection (e.g. ridership, origin-destination), bench marking, and financialcomparisons will be obtained to evaluate and quantify the system improvements and determine the success of thebeltline design. The project will set an example for small transit systems to improve service, increase ridership, anddecrease fuel consumption through improved technology applications.
