Description
The Township of The Archipelagol will gather data on the condition of 122 lane km roads within its juridiction. It will use the data analysis software to determine its longer term asset management priorities for the asset class: maintenance plans, capital refurbishment / replacement plans, and ongoing condition assessment needs. It plans on using the LAS Roads Assessment Service to achieve these goals.The LAS Roads Assessment Service diagnoses roadway defects efficiently and effectively using digital inspection technologies collecting pavement related data while traveling in traffic. The data is loaded into a web-based GIS data management, processing and visualization environment designed for pavement condition monitoring. The interface provides visual tools and methods to help decision makers formulate optimum strategies to maintain and improve their roadways over a given time period including repair suggestions, prioritization, and long term planning.Further to the assessment described above, a video survey of 22 km of gravel roads in the municipality will provide for a visual assessment of roadside brush cover. This will help the municipality more efficiently manage plant overgrowth and ditching activities in the road right-of-way.
