Description

The City of Prince George will evaluate two major capital investment projects: building a combined heat and power cogenerationplant fuelled by wood waste from local saw mills and pulp mills; and, developing a community energy systemto heat major buildings in the downtown core. The system's heat would also be used in a snow-melt operation. Electricitywould be sold to local mills and the provincial power grid. A previous feasibility study, completed in January 2001,concluded that there is an excellent opportunity to develop a community energy system. The new study builds on thiswork with a detailed analysis.
