Description
The City of Prince George will complete the Partners for Climate Protection Milestones 1, 2, and 3 in this study. This will result in the creation of a Local Action Plan (LAP) for corporate and community emissions reduction. Specific deliverables include a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, an analysis of that inventory, a description of reduction targets and a list of GHG reduction measures. Members of the public will be involved through a consultation process to set community emission targets and to create a list of measures to reduce community emissions. The LAP will be presented to City Council for approval. Proposed GHG emission inventories will be thorough, cost effective, measurable, and replicable, while the reduction plan submitted to FCM will be practical and achievable and will include an implementation matrix. As a result of the measures noted above, the City of Prince George anticipates a corporate GHG reduction of 1,200 tonnes, a community GHG reduction of 21,500 tonnes and a criteria air contaminants reduction of five to 10 per cent.
