Description
This project addresses York Region's corporate GHG emissions reduction targets through approved anti-idling initiatives, as detailed in the Council approved Corporate Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan (update 2016). The proposed project has potential to lead to significant reductions in GHG emissions. This project involves the installation of anti-idle technology on the entire ambulance fleet and Paramedic Response Units which are single paramedic SUVs. In December 2016, a pilot was initiated using the technology on 14 ambulances. This system is designed to control and monitor engine idling to maintain the interior temperature and battery charge to operate as a fully functional mobile platform required for patient care while saving fuel, reducing emissions and engine idle hours.
