Description
The Municipality of the County of Pictou has invested in the past to collect good quality data on water
main and wastewater networks and CCTV inspection, as well as the associated factors that could be
correlated to the condition of these assets. Since 2018, CANN Forecast has been working with several
Canadian municipalities to develop an algorithm that uses machine learning to transform such data into
actionable insights and predict the current and future condition of water assets.
The County of Pictou with use artificial intelligence (AI) tools used in predictive modeling to help the
municipality: (1) plan water main and wastewater network inspection and replacement programs; (2)
optimize investments for water and wastewater systems that will result in (3) increased overall service
levels to residents.
