Description
Wellesley Central Residences Inc. (WRCI) will complete an assessment of retrofit considerations to support a 25% minimum energy consumption reduction of a 112-unit affordable housing building in Toronto, Ontario. The existing building is 100% Rend-Geared-to-Income (RGI) and accommodates both seniors in need of moderate supports and others living with HIV/AIDS. The site also has 11 units for transitional housing for singles in need of additional support to access permanent housing. WRCI will carry out a detailed engineering study to assess and prioritize cost-effective, deep retrofit opportunities in the existing mechanical system, building envelope, HVAC system, heat pumps, lighting and other energy and water systems. Additionally, the work will support engagement of professionals to complete an energy model of the current building as well as explore solar potential. Results from this assessment will help the organization access additional GMF funding for a study. (Project description from original funding application)
