Description
York Region's 30–year Transportation Master Plan supports developing a region–wide, environmentally friendly rapidtransit system. The system will build on the "Quick–Start" program funded in GMEF 3329. The study will determine themost appropriate rapid transit technology and phasing to realize the region's target 17 per cent modal split by 2031. It wilassess technologies including surface light rail, subway, and dedicated rapid bus corridors. The component and life cyclecosts as well as community considerations such as noise, safety, visual impact, and user preferences will be evaluated. The region's ridership and travel markets and those between other regions will be analyzed to determine the supportbase for rapid transit.
