Description

Private wells and septic services serve most development within rural Ottawa. A number of areas use communal orcentral services for water and/or wastewater to serve groups of properties. The cost of establishing central wastewatermanagement systems in rural areas is prohibitive. As a result, new types of decentralized systems that serve clusters ofproperties are being considered. Innovative and new technologies will be examined. The study will analyze possiblesolutions and costs. The preferred water and wastewater alternative solutions will be selected using an evaluationprocess, including public and review agency comments. The study will also consider the current development patterns, environmental conditions and future growth scenarios.
