Description
The study is the short–term component of a multi–phase plan to develop rapid transit in the Regional Municipality ofYork. Quick Start measures will improve service and develop transit ridership in key transit corridors in anticipation of thelong–term developments. Strategies to be evaluated include marketing programs, improving passenger environmentsand information, developing discount fare options such as weekly passes for workers or students, and improving fareintegration with neighbouring transit systems. The benefits include service enhancements, increased ridership andreduced traffic congestion and pollution. The Quick Start measures could improve the region's modal split byapproximately 15 per cent by 2006.
