Description
The City of Winnipeg's Millennium Project is a $17–million expansion and renovation of the main public library branch.Using an integrated design process (IDP), the city will assess implementing design improvements to reduce energy useand greenhouse gas emissions. The study will identify opportunities to reduce annual energy consumption by 50 per cenin the new portion and by 35 per cent in the renovated portion. This is the first application of IDP in a major expansionand renovation of a municipal building. The potential for replication is high since Canadian municipalities have a largestock of aging buildings for expansion or renovation. The Canada/Manitoba Infrastructure Program is also contributing tothe study.
