Description
The Village of Pemberton will conduct a water loss study program to help reduce its water consumption, which is nearly double the national average. The primary objective is to locate leaks by installing two or three temporary flow meters on Village watermains. Metering will help quantify water consumption and better target water conservation initiatives. Because the Village’s water comes from a single source and has some quality issues, the Village wants also to identify a second secure water source and design a water treatment system. This will involve geotechnical analysis including drilling and groundwater testing, identification of water treatment requirements, preparation of a detailed design for a water treatment system, and stakeholder consultations. The project will ensure that the Village reduces the risk to human health by maintaining water quality. As well, it will help to reduce water loss, diminish energy use and decrease the chemicals currently used for water treatment.
