Description

The City of Calgary, in partnership wih Climate Change Central, wishes to study and field test a remote-controlled streetlight dimming system (the Lumen IQTM) and a new Streetlight Intelligence Management System (SIMS) to determine the feasibility and cost effectiveness of this energy-saving technology. The proposed streetlight adaptive lighting technology is expected to reduce the electricity consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of suitable major roadway and expressway streetlights by approximately 30% or by an estimated 6% for the City’s entire streetlight inventory. Its asset management features would also contribute to improving the efficiency of municipal operations with respect to streetlight maintenance.
