Description

This pilot project will make the City of Saint-Jérôme the first municipality in Canada to allow the use of low speed electricvehicles and to develop the infrastructure for them to safely integrate with conventional vehicles in an urbanenvironment. It will pilot the integration of 20 low-speed electric vehicles in the City of Saint-Jérôme, incorporated intothe fleets of local participating employers (including major partners such as Hydro-Quebec, the City of Saint-Jérôme, leministère des Transports du Québec) who will make them available to their staff for business travel and other uses.Consultations and surveys with the public (both electric vehicle users and conventional road users) will assess how wellthese vehicles are integrating into the community and what measures could be taken to increase the use of suchvehicles in the city. Resulting bylaws and road design recommendations will serve as a model to encourage othermunicipalities to legalize the use of low speed electric vehicles on their roads.
