Description
The British Columbia Environment Ministry estimates 25 to 30 per cent of the province's municipal solid waste originateswith the construction and demolition sector. This study will examine ways to reduce waste generated by theseindustries. Recycling, re-using and salvaging useful materials would extend the life of landfill sites as well as create jobsAs a case study, the district will deconstruct its old recreation centre in a way that will salvage materials rather thandestroying them. The project will be a model for future waste management opportunities in the region.
