Description

The Regional Municipality of Halton will research a new technique for disinfecting drinking water or treated wastewater, which could reduce its energy costs and improve the product. The new technology, iTi's Gas inFusion™, permits aprecise application of ozone during the gas infusion process, making it more readily and rapidly available to kill bacteriafaster. With shortened contact times, the system will achieve disinfection using significantly less ozone. The Region'starget for the reduction in ozone is 50 per cent or better, compared to its existing technology. In doing so, there is acorresponding saving in energy use. In addition, the elimination of ozone off–gassing, lower ozone production, and anyreduction in contact times provides a reduction in capital and maintenance costs.
