Description

West Vancouver will study the feasibility of using a low head membrane system to treat water from its Eagle Reservoir. This relatively new technology, which is being developed in Australia, would reduce the energy currently required to treatwater. It is also expected to increase protection against bacterial contamination, including giardiasis andCryptosporidium. Using low head membranes also reduces (by 20 to 30 per cent) the need to use chlorine to treat thewater. The project would study the way the system would have to be modified to operate in conjunction with WestVancouver's hillside conditions.
