Description

The City of Toronto, in partnership with the community-based volunteer organization, the Wabash Building Society (WBS), conducted a Feasibility Study on a former brownfield site to determine whether an existing vacant industrial building on the site can be renovated into a “green community centre”. A consultant consortium of architects and engineers was retained to complete the Feasibility Study for the renovation of the 3,716 m2 building to a LEED Gold or Silver community centre, which also meets the City of Toronto Green Development Standard. A 50% reduction in annual greenhouse gas emissions and 20% annual reduction in water consumption are anticipated.
