Description
The Spruce Woods Housing Co-operative will complete an assessment of retrofit options to reduce total energy consumption by at least 25% and eliminate fossil fuel use for an 81-unit facility in Brandon, Manitoba. Recognizing the importance of community engagement, Spruce Woods Housing Co-operative will begin by holding two separate consultations with residents to establish the retrofit goals and objectives as well as more specific social, economic and environmental targets. Additionally, the SAH Planning Grant will allow the organization to engage a consultant to create a preliminary energy baseline, highlight different retrofit scenarios and explore the site’s solar potential. Results from this planning grant will be shared with the members of the housing cooperative and will help the organization access additional GMF study funding.
