Climate Change Staff - Town of Orangeville

The grant-funded employee will implement initiativesthat increase the municipality's capacity to adapt to climate change. The first phase of work will be to develop a climate adaptation plan for the municipality. These plans identify climate change impacts, risks, and related adaptive strategies or actions related to the region, the community, a neighbourhood or a group of assets. Once the climate adaption plan is developed. the second phase of work will be to implement operationaland institutional changes within the municipality that will help ensure long-term climate adaptation after the grant period.The final phase of work will involve preparatory work leading to the implementation of climate adaptations initiatives and the grant-funded staff person is required to move activities from the planning stage to the implementation stage over the course of the grant period.In Year 1 , the Recipient plans to:Complete a review of climate toolsComplete a review of existing asset inventoryComplete a review of existing levels of serviceComplete review and update of DWQMS Risk Assessment (201 9)Submit Climate Adaptation policy and creation of Climate Adaptation team to Council for approvalProvide regular updates to Council and Senior management teamHold public consultation meetingsPrepare issues and award RFP for Asset Risk Assessment for Climate ChangeIn Year 2, the Recipient intends to:Complete an infrastructure risk assessment with future climate change scenariosComplete a review and update of the DWQMS Risk Assessment (2020)Provide regular updates to Council and Senior management teamHold public consultation meetingsIdentify preferred asset management options to mitigate climate risksPrepare business cases for mitigating high risk assets
